The Experts…

Gemma Frankland

Gemma Frankland qualified as an International Personal Trainer in 2003. Starting-off with a wide and varied client base, she gained an enormous breadth of experience in cardiovascular development, weight-management, and resistance training. Gemma then decided to focus on the specific areas of fitness about which she had become most passionate:

Weight-Loss and Body Toning, Ante-natal Exercise and Post-natal Exercise:

Weight-Loss and Body Toning

Gemma has helped many clients to lose weight and maintain the loss long term, including clients who have struggled for many years to do so without success. She firmly believes in identifying the behaviours responsible for the weight-problem and addressing them honestly and methodically.
For clients who do not need to lose weight, but want to improve the tone and strength of their body, Gemma offers resistance training using a wide variety of techniques and equipment including free-weights, resistance bands, kettle-bells and BOSU work.

Ante-natal Personal Training

Gemma has gained additional qualifications specifically in Ante-natal training. She worked with the government funded NHS Research team of Professors and Clinical staff to explore ways in which exercise could benefit pregnant women who smoked. She has also held educational sessions for NHS midwives. Her ‘hands-on’ Personal Training experience spans over 120 pregnancies, and includes working with women with complex conditions such as SPD, placenta previa, pre-ecampsia, obstetric cholestatis, IVF and multiple gestations.

Services Provided:
  • A regular 2-hour Workshop – ‘Why, and how to exercise in Pregnancy’. Perfect if you are planning a pregnancy, or are already pregnant.
  • Personal Training sessions to prepare for pregnancy, and during the pregnancy itself.

Post-natal Personal Training

Gemma has worked with hundreds of post-natal women both on a one-to-one basis, and in a class environment. This experience has given her an insight into the stresses put on a new mother – both physical and emotional. As such, her approach is to target physical problem areas – core muscles, back strength and weight management – in a way that helps to relieve stress, boost energy and help women to regain confidence in their bodies.
